Price – $21.99, Sobey’s Liquor
On sale for $17.99 for Thanksgiving
I was making a slow-cooker Japanese beef curry and wanted to grab a red wine that would compliment my dinner. I saw that this wine was on sale and thought, yeah, a sauv would be perfect. I’m literally amazed I paid less than $20 on this bottle of wine because it honestly is one of the best budget reds I’ve had in my life.
A beautiful, deep ruby, medium-bodied pour, Oak Grove looks amazing right out of the bottle. The smell is floral and slightly spicy – reminiscent of cardamom, crushed clove and pink peppercorn. I was surprised by the smoothness of the flavour — a balance of grapefruit and hibiscus. I felt opulent, and I certainly felt like I wasn’t currently eating my dinner out of a baby blue IKEA bowl.
The only thing I would caution in regards to this wine is that it’s so delicious you might drink the entire bottle by accident. But some accidents are happy accidents, so go out and get it!
