Meeting UAlberta: Rory O’Donovan
Rory O’Donovan
Arts I, Undeclared
Seeing as it’s awards season, how do you feel about awards shows?
I don’t really like follow it that much, but like I see it all on social media I guess.
Do you have a favourite show?
Suits I watch a lot, also Master of None with Aziz Ansari, stuff like that.
Have you seen any of the nominated films this year?
O’Donovan: Yeah, I saw The Revenant the other night, saw Star Wars, I don’t really know what else is nominated though!
Joy, Mad Max!
Oh yeah, I didn’t think Mad Max was that good. It was kind of like there was no story. I thought it was kind of boring.
How was The Revenant?
It was all right. He didn’t really like say much. It was just him like crawling around the whole time. My friends thought it was pretty average.
Do you think Leo deserves the Oscar this year?
I dunno, I think he deserved it last year more than this year. He just crawled around and didn’t say much.
If you could win an award for anything, what award would you choose?
Best Actor, easily.
What would your movie be about?
No idea! I honestly can’t think.
Who would you thank in your speech and why?
My parents probably, friends (laughs), and everybody that worked with me I guess.
What’s your favourite type of movie?
I like mystery things, like Gone Girl I really liked. Movies where you don’t know what happens until the end. And I don’t know if you’ve seen that Prisoners movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, where you like literally have no idea what happens until the last ten minutes. I think that’s interesting.
