What: PLANET GROOVE featuring The Strathcona Royales
When: March 28, 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Where: The Commercial, Blues on Whyte
Admission: Free
The Commercial, which features live performances from new artists and notable rock, soul, funk, and blues performers, presents PLANET GROOVE. The weekly performance from The Strathcona Royales recreates an authentic, live concert experience of musical icons.
What: Poor Things
When: March 28 at 6:30 p.m., April 1 and April 4 at 9:15 p.m.
Where: Metro Cinema
Admission: Student ticket $11
Catch a screening of Poor Things (2023), starring Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo. The film — which has won four Oscars — follows the evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman who was brought back to life with the implantation of her infant’s mind. Under an unorthodox scientist’s protection, Bella finds herself limited, and she pursues a journey of self-discovery while learning about the outside world.

When: April 5 – 13

The University of Alberta’s Studio Theatre presents Rough Magic, a modern twist on the Shakespearean classic, The Tempest. Written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and directed by Christine Brubaker, The Tempest‘s characters find themselves in New York City, caught in a magical battle between good and evil. Make sure to catch a show from the last production of the 2023-24 Studio Theatre season!

Where: The Aviary

The Aviary is hosting its multi-artist spring art show, featuring 16 artists! The artists include Papermoon Collage, Mark Elliott Muz, Tim Rechner, and many more. Welcome the coming of spring by appreciating local artwork!
What: Tegan and Sara concert
When: April 9, doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Myer Horowitz Theatre
Admission: U of A student ticket $25
The newly renovated Myer Horowitz Theatre is celebrating its re-opening with an exciting concert! Tegan and Sara are an award-winning indie pop duo from Calgary. The identical twins are known for their hit songs including “Closer” and “Walking With a Ghost.” This will be the duo’s sixth concert at the theatre. This is a closed campus show that’s not available to the general public.
