Spill The Tea: Numi Organic Tea’s Breakfast Blend

Breakfast Blend is not something I would buy again!

Okay, I’ll admit I am a total tea snob. I prefer loose-leaf tea over boxed, packaged tea from the store — I think looseleaf is fresher and better in taste. However, sometimes I want tea but don’t have the time to buy the quality stuff or don’t have access to my own tea at any given moment. As a result, I bought Numi Organic Tea’s Breakfast Blend from the Daily Grind, and, yikes.

Certain tea companies include non-tea ingredients or filler leaves to try to make money off of unsuspecting consumers. That is, they are snowman balls: packed to the brim with stuff, but stuff that is unnecessary or non-functional. Additionally, some tea companies have pesticides and harmful substances in their tea. This also lead me to try Numi Organic Tea, as they are committed to providing GMO-free and natural tea leaves.

The smell of the Breakfast Blend was incredibly nice, but there was a strong aftertaste. I don’t know if I over-steeped the tea, but each mouthful of tea become even more bitter than the last sip. I’m a person who likes bitter things, and yet even this tea was too much for me. Eventually, I ended up throwing out half of the tea, and as a poor university, it broke my heart to do so.

Although this experience was horrible, I will still continue to try other Numi Organic Tea flavours. However, I won’t be buying the Breakfast Blend again.
