Streeters: What did students want to be when they were little?

At a young age, the future can seem full of possibilities. However, life is filled with twists and turns, often placing us on unexpected paths. The Gateway asked students what they wanted to be when they were little, and what career they want to pursue now.

Iqra Syed (Header) — Science IV

“It changed every single year but I remember wanting to be a teacher really badly cause I was a teacher’s pet and wanted to be just like my teachers. Now I wanna work as a lab technician, so that’s changed quite a bit.”

Liam Bolton — Arts II

“I used to want to be a conservation officer, specifically a fish and wildlife officer. My dream job now is to be the regional director for the United Nations’ environment program in Beijing but that’s probably 40 years down the road if that even happens.”

Cydney Witt — Science II

“When I was younger I wanted to be a paleontologist. Right now I’m thinking about going to medical school.”

“I wanted to be an author and write books. Now I just wanna be happy with my life.”

Khadra Ahmed
