Despite some crazy weather, Rockin' Thunder delivered some great rock music to Edmonton fans.
Leah HennigRockin’ Thunder lived up to its name this year, in both the music and weather. Despite some rain interfering with the festival, the show went on.
With headliners like Three Days Grace and Creed, the festival attracted plenty of people. But the opening acts were equally as good.
Local band Calling All Captains was bumped from the main stage lineup on July 11 due to the rain, but still tore things up on the YEG Rocks! stage — twice. Instead, Bif Naked opened up the first day of the festival, followed by grandson, who was not afraid to call out one of the festival’s sponsors, BetMGM.
On the second day, the Calgary-based CHILIØ made their main stage debut with a whole lot of energy. Then Edmonton was blessed with Canadian rock royalty, Paul Langlois from the Tragically Hip. Mammoth, with Wolfgang Van Halen at the helm, picked things up after a short rain delay before Creed closed the festival out.
