This playlist follows the ideal summer day, starting with catchy and energetic hits to match the bright summer mornings we enjoy in Edmonton. Then, to soundtrack our lazy summer afternoons, the songs lean into more relaxing instrumentals across multiple genres, such as soul and bossa nova. Our summer evenings, although beautiful, can get almost unbearably hot. So, the playlist then ventures into more hazy and reflective tracks to accompany our sweltering evenings.
Personally, my favourite time of day in the summer is right after the sun has set. The entire sky carries this brilliant blue glow, and the world feels dreamlike. The playlist ends with “Venice Bitch” by Lana Del Rey, a song that perfectly encapsulates this feeling.
