Sean Feucht has no place in Alberta or Canada
Danielle Smith’s government jump to platform American advocate for non-secularism, despite his harmful words against Canadians.

The rest of Canada has been opting out of platforming professional victim and anti-equality musician, Sean Feucht. But, Government of Alberta? It’s looking to platform him on governmental grounds
Feucht is an anti-trans, anti-2SLGBTQIA+, anti-abortion, anti-critical race theory, pro-Trump musician from California. He’s set to play at the Alberta Legislature Grounds on August 22. He has faced protests throughout his Canadian tour so far, leading to cancellations of his venues, but has still managed to play his sets in alternative spaces. For his Alberta show, organizers submitted an incomplete permit application. In response, the Alberta government assisted them in completing it.
Feucht has absolutely no place on our government’s grounds. He is an advocate for non-secularism, actively calling for Christians in the United States (U.S.) to politically mobilize in an effort to implement religious based policy trough his Hold the Line movement. And, he is against the pro-equality values we proudly promote as Canadians.
Alongside this, he’s acting like a wanna-be spy for the Trump regime, whining about non-existent anti-Christian sentiments in Canada. I’d say, for all the love he has for the church, he should try not costing them $2,500 by illegally playing shows without permits.
As a musician, he has 35 album releases on Spotify, three of which are about being on, or recorded on government property in the U.S.. With this, and his Hold the Line movement in mind, it seems like he is trying to promote non-secularism in Canada as well. And by not just allowing him to play at the Alberta Legislature, but helping him with his application to do so, the United Conservative Party (UCP) is aiding the promotion of his views.
Since Feucht’s values do not at all represent Canadian ones, why not platform absolute any local band who likely would have more in common with Edmonton, or Canada. Why not support our absolutely thriving local scene?
Seemingly, pandering to Christians is worth more than uplifting the capital’s arts scene. In April, she held a Christian Prayer Breakfast, and this concert is seemingly another event to maintain or gain further support, but this time, fully at the expense of women, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, and Canadians as a whole.
In a statement, the Alberta Infrastructure Minister’s office said “Alberta is committed to supporting and respecting everyone’s right to free speech. We have a duty to uphold these rights and freedoms, regardless of an individual’s religious or political beliefs.” But it isn’t uncommon for shows to be cancelled because of the views or statements of the musician.
In 2018, former Misfits singer, Michale Graves’ show was cancelled because he expressed values that are harmful to some Canadians. And while Graves’ show wasn’t cancelled by the government, you’d think the government would act similarly to protect Albertans. But, the Alberta government would rather help a Proud Boys, which is deemed a terrorist group, protected anti-equality American over marginalized Canadians. Or just local artists.
There are protests planned for his show. And since the Alberta government thinks platforming this man is okay, make sure it realizes it isn’t.
