What: Alberta Avenue Night Market
When: August 18, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The Alberta Avenue Business Association is hosting night markets in the Alberta Avenue District throughout the summer! The market is a family-friendly environment featuring various entertainment and vendors that sell locally-made goods.
What: Chinatown Summer Festival
When: August 20, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Chinatown
Admission: Free admission
Edmonton’s Chinatown Business Association is putting together a day of celebrating the Chinatown community! There will be local performers, merchants, vendors, cultural games, and various food trucks. Additionally, there will be lion and dragon dances!
What: Edmonton PRIDE Festival
When: August 18 to 26
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
Admission: Free admission
This year’s Pride festival is set to have many activities and events! The festival will have food vendors, various performances, and a market! The market, made up of over 30 LGBTQ2S+ organizations, will be set-up on a rainbow road within Churchill Square. Additionally, there will be a 2 Spirit Powwow on August 24, a 90s-themed dance party on August 25, and PRIDE at Churchill Square on August 26.
What: Grindstone Street Party
When: August 17 to 27
Where: The Grindstone Comedy Theatre
Admission: Free admission
The Grindstone Comedy Theatre is hosting a 10-day street party as part of the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. Admission is free and people are encouraged to enjoy the party whether or not they’re waiting for a show! The party will feature a beer garden, street performers, food trucks, a kids zone, and more.
What: SHE/THEY Fringe Show
When: August 17 to 20, and August 22 to 26
Where: The Roxy Theatre
Admission: $18 per ticket
The annual Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival has over 185 shows in 33 venues this year. Among the shows is SHE/THEY, a comedy-drama created by Madi May and directed by Daisy Brazil, who are both University of Alberta students. The play follows Agnes Arnold, a famed feminist author who got cancelled and doxed over a transphobic Twitter rant, and her granddaughter Pearl as they debate their differing ideas on feminism and gender.
