What: Alberta Culture Days Band in the Park
When: September 14, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park
Admission: Free

Cosmopolitan Music Society (CMS) is a non-profit organization that offers musical education to adults. The CMS is hosting a free concert at Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park to kick off their 61st season. The Culture Days Band concert will include a range of live music. From movie soundtracks to folk tunes to classical pieces, there will be a diverse variety of music for listeners. Enjoy this free outdoor performance that’s perfect for an afternoon outing.

What: Bohemian Artisan Market
When: September 14, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre
Admission: Free

Although outdoor farmers’ markets are coming to an end, there is still an ongoing opportunity to shop local. The Bohemian Artisan Market is launching its first market on September 14, with the market happening several times until March. There will be a number of local Edmonton artists and creators in attendance. With everything from chocolatiers to vintage experts, there is something for everyone.

What: Book Launch: Sunshine and Spice by Aurora Palit
When: September 17, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Audreys Books
Admission: Free

Aurora Palit is a writer from rural Alberta, who has just released her debut novel Sunshine and Spice. The book follows two opposites who agree to fake date in order to solve their cultural dilemmas. But as they spend more time together, they discover that their feelings for each other might be more than performative. Palit will be at Audreys Books for the launch of her debut romance novel.

What: Gateway to Cinema: Challengers
When: September 19 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Metro Cinema
Admission: Free for students with valid I.D.

Gateway to Cinema is The Gateway’s partnership with Metro Cinema that provides free movies to students. This month’s free movie is Challengers, starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist. This sports drama centers around Tashi (Zendaya), a former tennis star, who now coaches her husband Art (Mike Faist). Currently on a losing streak, Art is going up against his former friend, Patrick (Josh O’Connor). However, Patrick is also Tashi’s ex-boyfriend. Challengers is full of high-stakes and high tensions as Art, Patrick, and Tashi collide.

What: Kaleido Family Arts Festival
When: September 13 – 15
Where: 90 – 95 Street to 118 Avenue
Admission: Free

Kaleido Family Arts Festival, presented by Arts on the Ave, is gearing up for its 19th year on September 13. The festival is a celebration of diversity, creativity, and the power of the arts. There is a plethora of activities going on during the festival including live music and dance performances, workshops, comedy acts, and even garage sales. Enjoy a jam-packed weekend full of exciting events.
