What: Edmonton Heritage Festival
When: August 3 – 5
Where: Edmonton Exhibition Lands and Borden Parks
Admission: Free
The Edmonton Heritage Festival is the world’s largest three-day multiculturalism celebration. The festival hosts pavilions and performances that showcase diverse cuisine, entertainment, crafts, and more. Some of the entertainment includes cultural dances and folk music performances. With its free admission and plethora of performances, the Edmonton Heritage Festival cannot be missed.
What: Felice Noir – Open Mic Night
When: July 31 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Felice Cafe
Admission: Free (RSVP required)
On the last Wednesday of each month, Felice Cafe hosts its Felice Noir “after dark” events. It aims to support and showcase local talent through open mic nights. Additionally, attendants can expect a number of performances from music to poetry, ranging from multiple genres. Sign up to participate, or go to watch.
What: Potluck: Artists from the Nina Collective
When: July 27 – September 14
Where: Alberta Craft Discovery Gallery
Admission: Free
With work from six Edmonton artists, Potluck is the Alberta Craft Discovery Gallery’s newest exhibition. Each artist uses different motifs to represent natural themes, such as flora, fauna, and fungi. The colourful and lively designs are a must-see. The participating artists work at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts, where artists with developmental and other disabilities develop and present their work.
What: Queer and Disabled Drag Shows Presents: 2 Queens Among Kings
When: August 4 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Grindstone Theatre
Admission: $20.65
Join host Ryden on wheelz and co-host Mister Risqué as they present an “all-king drag extravaganza.” This performance is a celebration of drag, and is full of excitement and fierceness. Additionally, the show is in support of the Lacombe Pride Society, which advocates for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Lacombe, and surrounding areas. This cannot-miss performance displays talent from skillful performers such as Felicia Bonée and Lush PanHick.
What: Reign of Error EP release
When: August 3 at 8:00 p.m.
Where: The Aviary
Admission: $15 advanced, $20 at the door
Reign of Error is an Edmonton-based alternative emo band releasing their debut EP, Trauma Dump on August 2. They will be performing at the Aviary, alongside Edmonton-based rock duo, No More Theodore, and Contingent Issues, a punk band. Rock out with Reign of Error at their EP release show.
