2022 Students’ Council and General Faculties Council candidates announced

Voting will take place on March 23 and 24 for all undergraduate students.

The list of candidates hoping to represent their faculties on Students’ Council and General Faculties Council (GFC) were announced on March 17 at an all-candidates meeting.

Candidates were allowed to begin campaigning on March 17 at 8:00 p.m., and voting will take place on March 23 and 24 for all undergraduate students. Results will be announced on March 24 after 5:00 p.m. on the Elections Office social media platforms.

Students’ Council Races

35 student councillors serve on Students’ Council. Elected councillors are expected to consult and represent constituents within their faculties. Councillors meet at Students’ Council meetings every second Tuesday to discuss and vote on bylaws and policies, and work with various committees and boards.

General Faculties Council Races

General Faculties Council (GFC) is the University of Alberta’s body in charge of making decisions related to academics. It consists of 162 members, including university administrators, deans, professors, and undergraduate student representatives. They meet every month and has subcommittees that meet regularly.
