Muggles far and wide rejoice — Number Four Privet Drive is for sale.

You can now own the home that made Harry Potter’s life miserable. The Dursley’s humble abode is on the market for £475,000 in Bracknell, Berkshire.

For those so far deep into the fandom that the line between the wizarding world and reality is virtually nonexistent, this the opportunity of a lifetime.

We all waited for the letter that said “we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.” We bought our wands, dressed up like various characters for Halloween, and went to the midnight release parties at Chapters. When the last film came out, it was as if our childhood was ending.

However, this year was almost like the Harry Potter revival. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened up in California, The Cursed Child provided us with information about Harry’s adult life with his children, and the release of the Patronus quiz on Pottermore gave us a little more insight to ourselves (I do feel for you that are moles and wild boars, however). Now with the opportunity to live in the home that introduced us to Harry’s world on the big screen, this could be the closest thing we have to living a Potter lifestyle.

Looking inside the house, it is visibly quite different from the house we have come to know and love (or hate, depending on how you look at it). The house was only used for external shots in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, whereas inside shots were filmed in a replicate house on the Warner Brothers Studio lot. With that being said, as a homeowner, you could completely transform the house to look just how it was represented in the beloved series. I would not recommend making your younger siblings sleep in the cupboard under the stairs, however. Some things are better left for the movies.

Daniel Radcliffe has said that the real Privet Drive, known as Picket Post Close, was likely the location for the very first day of shooting on The Philosopher’s Stone. It was there from the very beginning, and is clearly still as relevant as it was on day one.

Even though Harry spent the most miserable years of his life at Privet drive, it was the location of almost every opening scene in the series. It was where we first met Dobby, where Harry blew up Aunt Marge, and where Ron and the Weasley twins broke Harry out with the flying car. It was also the place where Harry said goodbye to the life he knew to embark on the most amazing, terrifying, and life changing adventures.

Living in the real Privet Drive home would make our inner 11 year old’s dream a reality, as we are still awaiting those acceptance letters. If we cannot actually attend Hogwarts, at the very least whoever decides to purchase the home can now experience a bit of Harry’s life and make it their own.
