What: Indigenous Celebration Week
When: March 21 to 25
Where: Various rooms in the Students’ Union Building (SUB)
Admission: Free
Indigenous Celebration Week is being held at the University of Alberta for the first time! Held in conjunction with Aboriginal Student Council, this week-long event features workshops, speakers, social services, performances, and learning with the objective to teach settlers about Indigenous peoples’ cultures, histories, and how to live as Treaty partners.
What: “Dialectic, Tragedy, Revolution” by Rebecca Comay
When: March 21 to April 1

Admission: Free
Rebecca Comay is a distinguished visiting speaker and professor of philosophy and comparative literature at the University of Toronto. She will give three lectures on her upcoming book Dramaturgy of the Dialectic. Dialectics is basically discussion and reasoning by dialogue as a method of intellectual investigation. Her book and lectures will explore dialectics, theatre, and politics in and after Hegel’s philosophy of art.
What: Springboards New Play Festival
When: March 22 to 27
Where: The Gateway Theatre (8529 Gateway Blvd NW)
Admission: $15 per show
After a few years, the Springboards New Play Festival is back! This year they highlight 23 Edmonton playwrights in the form of four play readings and two cabaret shows. With a diverse set of playwrights and stories, there’s bound to be something for everyone!
What: Transgender Art? In Alberta? You bet!
When: March 24 at 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Zoom
Admission: Free
This is an event that is held by the U of A’s Augustana Campus by associate professor Lucas Crawford, and features six transgender artists from the regions of Treaty 6, 7, and 8. Come and check out this trans talent!
