SuppliedA newspaper from 1910 to 2016, The Gateway’s been literally making headlines for a long time. This throwback aims to enlighten readers on Gateway and University of Alberta history.
Context: The now-nonexistent WOW dance used to be held at the Butterdome, but was moved to the Convention Centre in 1993 after the Students’ Union lost $20,000 holding the event. The SU had rented the LRT to include a ride free from campus to the Convention Centre (with Safewalk volunteers on the ready to help students to the dance and back) in admission.
