Photostory: Golden Bears Basketball sweep MRU in home opener weekend

The Golden Bears basketball team kicked off their season over the weekend, defeating Mount Royal University (MRU) in two tight matchups. The home crowd fuelled the energy in the building to create a lively atmosphere that was carried through both games.

In the first game, the Golden Bears established early dominance and held on to secure a 77-69 victory. MRU came back stronger in the second game, with the Bears trailing until the end of the fourth period. The Bears fought relentlessly to close the gap and finally took the lead off Nash Semeniuk’s corner three. As the home team pulled ahead, the crowd erupted sparking an electric environment. The two teams traded the lead in a tense back and forth battle in the final minutes of the game. In the end the Bears were able to secure the comeback win, devastating MRU 84-81.

With two hard fought wins, the Bears start their season on a high note.
