Notes from Council: Nomination of councillor to AI Taskforce
Additionally, Vice-president (operations and finance) Nathan Thiessen moved to incorporate terms of references and amend the SUB Planning Committee in effort to ensure the functionality of subcommittees.

At the University of Alberta Students’ Union (UASU) Students’ Council meeting on October 7, council nominated agriculture, life, and environmental sciences (ALES) councillor Morgan Vany to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Taskforce.
Additionally, Vice-president (operations and finance) Nathan Thiessen moved to amend the Student Union Building (SUB) Planning Committee to incorporate terms of references.
This motion ensures operationality and functionality of subcommittees, according to Thiessen. This includes the Sustainability Committee, the Health and Dental Committee, as well as the SUB Planning Committee.
Thiessen expanded on this, saying that it allows the UASU to get internalized change in staff.
“We’re not seeking to undermine the committee, we seek to expand its skill,” Thiessen said.
The plan is to rename the SUB Planning Committee to be inclusive of the spaces it manages outside of SUB, namely Dewey’s. They are not creating or removing an executive position.
The motion passed.
There were no executive updates.
