What: Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival
When: August 13–23

The Edmonton Fringe is back for its 45th season! Experience all of the laughs, tears, and every emotion in between as you explore 209 different theatre productions. Featuring more than 1,600 artists from all over Canada and beyond, the Fringe celebrates the diversity and versatility of theatre, giving the opportunity to amateur and professional performers alike to bring their talent to the stage. Go check out the Fringe, you never know what you might see!
What: Edmonton’s Littlest Folk Fest and Summer BBQ
When: August 15 at 2:00 p.m.
Where: Donnan Park
Admission: Free (reservation required)
Attend a summer community barbecue, and take in the tunes of a bunch of local artists at Edmonton’s Littlest Folk Fest. Attend (or participate in) the bike parade, then indulge in a community potluck and cookout. Afterwards, enjoy the music of a group of Edmontonian musicians and cut a rug square dancing!
What: Edmonton Dragon Festival
When: August 21–23
Where: Kinistinâw Park
Admission: Free
Head over to Kinistinâw Park and visit the Edmonton Dragon Festival. Experience premier lion dance competitions, tasty Asian cuisine, and a free movie! You can also sign up for a food tour, giving you the opportunity to taste a variety of dishes and the chance to learn more about their history. Have a blast at the Edmonton Dragon Festival!
What: Edmonton Pride Festival
When: August 21–23
Where: ICE District
Admission: Free
Celebrate Pride at Edmonton’s annual Pride Festival! The festival starts on Friday August 21, with a 90s pop diva sing-along (diva drag performances included). Then, catch the parade on Saturday, filled to the brim with dancers, divas, and overall good vibes. After the parade, check out PrideFest, featuring performers, food trucks, and a queer artisan market. Spend the weekend celebrating Pride in downtown Edmonton!
What: Lunar Eclipse Viewing at the RASC Observatory
When: August 27 at 8:00 p.m.
Where: RASC Observatory in Coronation Park
Admission: Free
Join the TELUS World of Science team at the RASC Observatory to see a lunar eclipse! Use one of the observatory telescopes to get a better look, and learn more about the moon and the night sky from RASC volunteers. Spend a beautiful summer night outside observing a celestial phenomenon, and learn a few new things while you’re there!
