The Golden Bears picked up a straight set win over the visiting University of the Fraser Valley Cascades on Saturday, improving to 5-1 in the season.
Meghan KurikilodilThe Golden Bears defended home court over the weekend at the Saville Community Sports Centre, earning a strong 3-0 victory over the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) Cascades.
The opening set was a tight match with both teams trading momentum early. The Bears held firm in the late points to close out the set 25-22, capped off by a kill from Jacob Sargent. The momentum carried into the second set, where Alberta settled into their rhythm and began to control the pace of play. The Bears pulled away comfortably, finishing the second set 25-14. With the crowd behind them, the Bears closed out the match in the third 25-16 to finish off a solid performance on home court.
The result keeps the Golden Bears firmly positioned near the top of the league standing at third place. The Golden Bears move to 5-1 in the season and head into their bye week.
