Photostory: Art Gallery of Alberta’s “Generations” Exhibit

A collection of art from early Canadian and Indigenous artists are currently being displayed at the Art Gallery of Alberta until May 21.

Generations is a Canadian and Indigenous art exhibit being presented at the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) by the Sobey Family from February 18 to May 21. Thanks to their visionary engagement, the family has championed Canadian art for three generations, as clearly mentioned at the exhibit itself.

Through this collection, works of early European newcomers, titans of 20th century Canadian art, Quebec impressionists, and automatiste painters, along with contemporary Indigenous and international artists, have been braided together. The recurring theme has been the Northern Atlantic, its history, and its impact on artists.
