Emoji Of The Week: Genie

Add a little flair to your texts with this spirit!

We all know the classic emojis: cry-laughing face, the “yasss queen” face or even the poop emoji.  However, one lesser-known and just as equally amazing emoji is the genie!

You may be wondering why I would ever need to use this emoji or how do genies relate to my personal everyday life. Let’s start with the obvious reason — that we all wish we had a genie to make reading week longer or to help us complete our assignments. Let’s say you’re having a tough time and need some wish fulfillment, add a little flair and sass to your conversation by adding this mischievous creature.

In Arabic mythology, genies, also known as Jinns, can be evil (they can also be good, but let’s just say they’re evil). Imagine you’re texting your friend and they mention someone who gives you bad vibes, go ahead and drop that genie emoji into the chat. You don’t need that negative energy in your life and you have to warn your friend that there’s an evil spirit nearby (ie. the person with the bad vibes is a Jinn). It’s a short, simple and sassy way of conveying such an important message.

Want to live out your magical days? Want to pretend you’re nine years old again when life was simple? Do you just really love Disney’s Aladdin? The genie emoji adds a touch of magic to any conversation. You also get a pick between purple or blue genies — ah, yes, y’know the two genders, purple and blue! Whenever you need to brighten up a conversation, the genie is there to help you!

Although you can’t have a genie in real life, live out this concept through your delusions and through your screens. Keep it shady or keep it magical, but don’t ever keep it basic!
