SU proposes creating student fee to support Facebook Live office hours
The current vice-president (office hours) Deer Parsons plans to install a new dedicated funding unit (DFU) to finance his Facebook Live office hours.
A DFU is an additional cost passed on to students that they pay every semester as part of their tuition. Parsons proposed DFU is $20 per semester.
“No one wants to actually go to an office,” Parsons said. “Facebook Live is the future. I want to make sure these office hours are next level.”
The collected money will be used to give Parsons Facebook Live office hours more exciting backgrounds, better fashion, and exciting sound effects. There may even be the possibility of taking his viewers on field trips.
“Everyone is either talking about DFUs or Faculty Association Membership Fees,” Parsons said. “I want in on this bandwagon.”
Parsons also plans to use some of the money to buy a lock for his door so that other Student Union executives do not walk in on him during his sessions.
“This is my thing,” he said. “I hope future vice-president (office hours) continue this legacy of next-generation office hours.”
