What: Edmonton International Street Performers Festival
When: July 5 – 14
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
Admission: Free
The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Not only is it an Edmonton staple, additionally, it is North America’s oldest festival dedicated to the art of street performance. The festival will feature a variety of acts including acrobats, jugglers, circus shows, and more. With everything from spectacle acts to comedy, there is an assortment of entertainment to look forward to!
What: Music in the Park
When: Every Wednesday from June 26 – August 14, 5:00 p.m.
Where: Butler Memorial Park
Admission: Free
Music in the Park is Stony Plain Road Business Association’s newest summer series. Live performances from local musicians will take place every Wednesday until August 14. Enjoy performances from musicians like Jananie, The Jivin’ Bells, The Spanish Flies, and more. This event is the perfect activity to unwind and relax while supporting local talent and businesses.
What: Summer Reads 2024: Adult Trivia Night
When: July 11, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Whitemud Crossing Edmonton Public Library Branch
Admission: Free
Put your random knowledge to the test at the Edmonton Public Library’s (EPL) trivia night! Topics range from a number of subjects, from film to current events. You can play as an individual or as part of a team. And the best part? The winning team will receive a prize.
What: When Life Gives You Melons
When: July 12 – 13 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre
Admission: $17.50 for students and $20 general admission
Kate Sheridan, a University of Alberta alumna, is presenting her one-woman play, When Life Gives You Melons. The production explores dyslexia and aims to demystify it through physical comedy and an educational performance. Professor Lemon Melon is an unusual teacher who delves into experiences of dyslexia and “determines the true superpowers of dyslexia.” Sheridan invites viewers on a storytelling journey that uses entertainment and her own experiences.
What: Whyte Avenue Art Walk
When: July 12 – 14, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Old Strathcona
Admission: Free
Whyte Avenue Art Walk is Edmonton’s first art walk, featuring 400 artists. This event aims to showcase creative talent, and encourage participants to buy directly from the artists. Viewers can also watch as artists create in real time! This event is a four kilometer walk and invites people to witness Alberta’s brilliant artists.
