Photostory: Silver Skate Festival 2026

The festival took place from February 6 and ran until Family Day weekend.

The Silver Skate Festival is Edmonton’s longest running winter festival and is highly anticipated every year. It celebrates Canada’s prairie winter and has family-oriented fun for all ages. The festival combines art, culture, education, sport, and recreation with activities such as lantern making, outdoor skating, and snow fort building.

The festival took place from February 6 into the Family Day weekend. The highlight of my night was witnessing the burning of the fire sculpture. Attendees gathered to witness a wooden sculpture lit on fire and consumed by flames. It represented an act of renewal and the release of negative thoughts and emotions.
