Photostory: 5 Artists 1 Love: 20th anniversary
The event featured 20 Black alumni artists, each showcasing work reflecting their journey and personal growth.
Ruona Chris-OberikoThe annual All Black Affair event took place at the Art Gallery of Alberta on February 14. Attendees were encouraged to dress in black from head to toe for the event. The event was in recognition of 20 years of celebrating creativity, culture, and the vibrancy of Edmonton’s Black community and beyond.
The event’s website states that “this special anniversary edition brings together 20 returning Black alumni artists, each debuting brand-new work that reflects their personal journeys, growth, and creative legacy.”
Featured artists include AJA Louden, Ash Shumba, Blanche Thompson, Braxton Garneau, Dara Ojo, Diana Ohiozebau, Faisa Omer, Jabari Broodhagen, Judy Robinson, Keon Courtney, Kyle Smith, Latoya Farrell, Lisa Mayse, Lorelle Whittingham, Madeline LeBlanc, Marjorie Marshall, Raneece Buddan, Reckie Lloyd, Richard Lipscombe, and Shoko Cesar.
This was a wonderful experience for young and old alike, and for all races. The night consisted of laughter, dancing, and art. Don’t miss out on viewing the exhibition, which ends April 19.
