Sarah HopkinWinterruption YEG took over downtown Edmonton from January 21 to 25 for its sixth annual winter music and arts festival. The multi-venue event is designed to bring live performance into the heart of the city. Presented by a volunteer-run team in collaboration with local partners and businesses, Winterruption showcases a range of music alongside comedy and drag.
Featured are artists from across genres, including Montréal’s high-energy theatrical punk act Annie-Claude Deschênes, influential Los Angeles hardcore punk band Fear, Edmonton alt-rock/punk trio Fille Fille, Saskatchewan based indie-rock/alt-punk band Greenwing, and New Brunswick’s art-rock/math-rock trio Motherhood. These performers were among dozens of artists spread across the festival’s packed schedule.
