Jonathan BajomoOn February 14, the Golden Bears took on the University of Fraser Valley (UFV) in the Canada West playoffs, beating them in a convincing 80-66. It was one of the Bears’ most impressive results this season, proving they truly belong in the postseason.
Every player contributed to the win — Kyle Varner lit it up from the three-point line as the team’s leading scorer, while Isaac Simon tallied 19 points on 50 per cent shooting along with five assists. The victory was anchored by a stellar defensive performance, holding the visitors to just 30 per cent from the field and 17 per cent from beyond the arc.
This defensive grit will be essential in their upcoming matchup against the University of Victoria, currently the top offensive team in the Canada West division.
