What: Canadian Top Gunn: The 80s Take Flight
When: November 21 – January 25
Where: Jubilations Dinner Theatre
Admission: $61.25 for students
Jubilations Dinner Theatre is putting on dinner and a show featuring an entirely new story about Canadian Top Gunn pilots helping the original’s Maverick. The show is set to all 80s music.
What: Chiseled: Edmonton’s International Ice Carving Expedition
When: January 15– January 17
Where: ICE District
Admission: Free
Swing by the ICE District between January 15 and 17 to check out Edmonton’s annual ice carving competition, Chiseled. Contestants will be there chiselling and making their work, and people can vote for a winner. Afterwards, the works will be on display until January 27.
What: Vanity Hour, Nick Lange, Seasonal Hires, and Refijerator at The Aviary
When: January 9
Where: The Aviary
Admission: $15 in advance, $20 at the doors
Coming off their set at Dewey’s, Edmonton-based Vanity Hour is set to headline a bill at The Aviary on January 9. Nick Lange and the Seasonal Hires are also local acts, making it the perfect chance to support your local music scene.
What: Swing’n Skate
When: January 4 – February 22
Where: City Hall
Admission: Free
Every Sunday throughout January and February, dance inside City Hall or skate outside to a range of music. Most Sundays, swing can be expected, but in February, there’s set to be some salsa. Go skate and enjoy the winter season.
What: SAMU’s Battle of the Bands
When: January 9
Where: The Starlite Room Temple
Admission: $17.72
The Student Association of MacEwan University’s (SAMU) annual battle of the bands is back. Find out who’s opening Fall Fest from this fully local bill. With acts like Lucky Keith and Lucas Wentworth, there’s bound to be some good music and friendly competition.
