Photostory: Golden Bears Basketball gets its biggest win of the season over the Huskies

The Golden Bears played against the Saskatchewan Huskies, going 1-1 over both games this weekend.

The Golden Bears opened the new semester with a statement on January 9 by routing the Saskatchewan Huskies 89-60. This 29-point victory was the team’s largest of the season. It was fuelled by a clinical 42.9 per cent performance from beyond the arc and a standout night from Matthew Osunde, who matched his season high with 19 points.

However, the momentum shifted in the Saturday rematch. The Bears struggled to find their rhythm without leading scorer and former West All-Star Isaac Simon, who was sidelined for the second game. The offensive production stalled as the team’s three-point shooting dropped to 18.2 per cent in the loss.

The Bears currently hold a 9-3 record and remain tied with Winnipeg for first place in the Prairie Division. They now look ahead to a crucial matchup against the fifth-place Manitoba Bisons, though Simon’s availability remains the biggest question mark of the week. With only a month left in the regular season, every game is vital for securing a favourable playoff seeding.
