What: Cree Code Talker
When: November 11
Where: The Royal Alberta Museum
Admission: Free with admission

The Royal Alberta Museum will be screening Cree Code Talker, a short film that details Charles ‘Checker’ Tomkins as a code talker during the Second World War. Code talkers translated messages into Cree and then back into English to maintain secrecy, despite Cree being illegal to speak in Canada at the time. This film and the museum would be a great way to participate in Remembrance Day.

Where: The Starlite Room

United Kingdom-based antifolk project, Crywank, is playing at The Starlite Room on November 7. After a brief break up in 2019 and reforming in 2024 and releasing their tour demos, the new version of Crywank is definitely something to check out.

What: Billy Bishop Goes to War
When: Until November 8
Where: Biederman Theatre
Admission: $38.74

A two-man Canadian musical, Billy Bishop Goes to War, is being performed at the Biederman Theatre. The play follows Billy Bishop’s going from a troubled student to a top fighter pilot. The play explores the cost of war and the brutal realities of conflict and Canada’s colonial past. Support local theatre and check out the show.

What: Oh, Henny! A Queer Cabaret
When: November 7
Where: The Grindstone Theatre
Admission: $19.46

Oh, Henny! A Queer Cabaret is a show at The Grindstone Theatre that’s looking to highlight Edmonton queer artists. The show promises a space for experimentation, risk taking, and a silly goofy time. Check out the show to support some local talent.

What: All is Bright Festival
When: November 15
Where: 124 Street and 108 Avenue
Admission: Free

Get into the winter season with the All is Bright Festival. There will be plenty of lights, local art, food, and performances. Get the full experience on November 15, or enjoy a stroll down the street during the following week.
