In our biweekly column Social Intercourse, we share our picks for notable things happening on campus and in Edmonton. Check out all these amazing local events!


What: Edmonton Mural Fest Tours
When: September 6
Where: 10020 100 Street NW
Admission: $49.26

On September 6, go on a tour to try some food, drink, and see some murals around the city. Over two and a half hours, you’ll get to see two live murals and learn about the murals around the city.

What: Purple City Music Festival
When: September 5 – 7
Where: Multi venue
Admission: $20 – $30 for individual tickets

Purple City Music Festival is an underground music festival happening at multiple venues between September 5 and 7. With groups like Wand and L.A. Witch headlining, it’s not something to miss. Some great local projects like Arts Major and Chaser are also set to perform. Support local music and the underground scene.

What: Barrel Fest 2025
When: September 13
Where: Ritchie Park
Admission: $12.58

Hosted by Blind Enthusiasm Barrel Company, the Barrel Fest is a festival for barrel-fermented and barrel-aged beer and cider. With breweries from all around the country coming, some locals like Sea Change and Campio are set to be there as well.

What: Simon Doty at Double Dragon
When: September 12
Where: Double Dragon 10524 Jasper Ave
Admission: $28.62

Catch Simon Doty with Better Living DJs and Viet at Double Dragon on September 12. Electronic sets at Double Dragon are always a good time. Doty is deep house from rural western Canada. Better Living DJs are bass house.


What: Strathearn Art Walk and Music Festival
When: September 5 – 7
Where: Along Strathearn Drive, between 89 and 91 Street
Admission: Free

Check out some local art and listen to some music while walking along the river valley. The Strathearn Art Walk will have local art vendors, performances from groups like Secondhand Dreamcar, and some food vendors to try out as well.
