What: Oktober Fest in the ICE District

Where: Fan Park

The Fan Park in the ICE district is going to have the biggest Oktoberfest in western Canada. There’s beer, dancing, music, and each ticket has a chance to win a trip to Germany.
What: Edmonton International Film Festival
When: September 25 – October 4
Where: Multi venue
Admission: $16.79
The Edmonton International Film Festival is back. Check out more than 25 Canadian films and even more international films. There’ll be some cool documentaries like Antidote and Bif Naked: A Documentary, which Bif Naked will be attending. And, tons of short and feature films.
What: High on Fire with Charger and Bastardane
When: September 19
Where: The Starlite Room
Admission: $37.75
Heavy metal American group, High on Fire are coming to The Starlite Room on September 19. Charger and Bastardane are also on the bill. Between High on Fire being 2019 GRAMMY winners and Bastardane’s drummer being Metallica’s James Hetfield’s son, Castor Hetfield, it’s sure to be a show to check out.
What: Pathways: Kurimoto Japanese Garden
When: September 25
Where: University of Alberta Botanical Gardens
Admission: $19.75
Featuring a photography exhibit by Nozomi Kamei, the U of A Pathways Fall Launch will have Japanese food, tea ceremonies, and ikebana and bonsai displays. The pathways series of events are to celebrate “the richness of diverse traditions and artistic expression, creating new connections between peoples through the universal language of the arts. This event is the second in a four-part series, each centred on a different cultural garden.”
What: Sky, Stone, and Prairie: Plein Air Perspectives of Alberta
When: September 2 – 27
Where: Fine Arts Building Main Floor (FAB)
Admission: Free
A collection of 100 plein air paintings of Samantha Williams-Chapelsky’s are being displayed in the FAB building this September. Williams-Chapelsky’s paintings show the nature within Alberta. Each painting is intended to reflect a specific moment in time, showing different moments of Alberta’s natural environment. There will be a reception for the exhibit on September 25.
