What: Chinatown After Dark Night Market
When: May 24, 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Where: 10566 97 Street
Admission: Free, but food tickets can be purchased on site

Edmonton’s Chinatown on 97 street is being transformed into a night market. The back alleys will be transformed into patios and more than 20 Chinatown restaurants are taking part in the pop-up. Food tickets can be purchased to try out any of the restaurants taking part.

What: Edmonton Drag Festival
When: May 30 – June 1
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
Admission: Free

Pride month is being kicked off with the Edmonton Drag Festival on May 30. Friday will start off with an Indigenous celebration, Saturday will have a red carpet runway, and Sunday will officially bring on Pride month with an 18+ event showcasing local drag talent. The weekend will also include panel discussions on drag culture, a community vendor market, bingo, and makeup sessions. 

What: Outdoor Oilers Watch Parties
When: May 21 – May 27
Where: Ice District Plaza and FanPark
Admission: Free, must have LOILTY rewards membership

After sending the Las Vegas Knights back south, the Oilers are headed to the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Stars. Cheer them on at the outdoor and indoor watch parties. The outdoor one, called the Moss Pit, is at Ice District Plaza. The tented one is at FanPark. Both have food and drinks, but the FanPark is the only one with real seating. There’ll be watch parties on both home and away game days. Go early for best chances at getting in, and hopefully, Chappell Roan gets played on your way out.

What: Preoccupations with Still Depths
When: June 3
Where: The Aviary
Admission: $30

Check out Alberta post-punk band, Preoccupations, at The Aviary. Coming off the May 9 release of their new album Ill At Ease, they’re sure to play some new tracks. Calgary and Vancouver experimental rock outfit Still Depths will be joining as well. With them also coming off a May 9 release of their single “In Love With My Dog,” they’re sure to play some new tracks as well.

What: Streetcar Cask Party Series
When: May 22 – June 26
Where: High Level Streetcar (Jasper Plaza Terminal)
Admission: $63.10

Try a local brewery and take a scenic ride over High Level Bridge on a historic Edmonton streetcar. The Common’s ninth-annual Streetcar Cask Party series is where each Thursday, a local brewery provides a cask of craft beer to enjoy during the ride. Alongside this, get historical insight on Edmonton’s streetcar system and the High Level Bridge, and try some food paired to the cask. Some of the breweries partnered are Sea Change, Blindman, and Alley Kat.
