What: Birds & Beasts: Wearing Honour and Order in the Qing Dynasty
When: March 13 – June 28
Where: University of Alberta Museums Gallery A (TELUS International Centre)

The latest exhibition from the U of A Museums is Birds & Beasts: Wearing Honour and Order in the Qing Dynasty with objects from the Mactaggart Art Collection. Birds & Beasts explores objects that soldiers would have worn on their uniforms during the Qing dynasty. Specifically, those who wore badges with birds on them were civil officers, while those with beasts on their badges were military officers. The gallery will host a number of programs and events, such as lecture series and embroidery workshops, to accompany the exhibit.

Enjoy a day of delicious eats by exploring the restaurants and cafés of Edmonton during Downtown Dining Week! Whether you want to dine in or take out, there are options for everyone. Some of the participating restaurants include Caffé Sole with their $15 “Cured Sammie,” Dolly’s Cocktail Bar featuring a $35 dinner composed of a smashed cucumber starter, a taco platter entrée, and a gelato sundae for dessert, and many more restaurants!
What: Golden Threads: Life’s Wanderings
When: March 16 at 7:30 p.m..
Where: Convocation Hall
Admission: $10 for students
The latest concert from the U of A department of music’s mainstage concert series is Golden Threads: Life’s Wanderings. This concert features Andrea Hill (soprano), John Tessier (tenor), and Jacques C. Després (piano). Golden Threads takes audience members on a journey through life, love, and death. Music from Beethoven and poetry from Shakespeare, are all components that help convey this theme.
What: Karaoke Night
When: March 12 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m..
Where: Dewey’s
Admission: Free
Unwind from midterms with some karaoke! The U of A Students’ Union (UASU) regularly puts on events such as movie nights, trivia, and karaoke that are free for students. Whether you want to showcase your killer singing voice, or just have some fun, head over to Dewey’s!
What: Pride Week
When: March 10 – 18

Admission: Free
The Fyrefly Institute at the U of A is an organization that offers programs and services to the 2SLGBTQ+ community on campus. This week they’re hosting a diverse number of events for Pride week. All week there will be an art gallery in the foyer of Rutherford library that features artwork from Queer students here at the U of A. Some of the other events include Queer Trivia at Sherlock’s Pub, a “Two-Spirit Pasts/Presents/Futures” workshop, a PowerPoint party, and more.
