In our weekly column Social Intercourse, we share our picks for notable things happening on campus and in Edmonton. Check out all these amazing local events!

What: Rochdale

When: March 25, 26, 28, 31 and April 1 and 2
Where: Timms Centre for the Arts
Admission: $12.00 for students, $25.00 for adults

The University of Alberta’s fine arts department presents Rochdale, their newest theatre production. Written by David Yee, this play is set in 1969 and talks about the legacy of Rochdale College, Toronto’s infamous failure of an experiment in community and cooperative learning.

What: Multiple Sclerosis Student Society Virtual Concert

When: April 1 at 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Zoom
Admission: $3.00 for one person, or $5.00 for two

The University of Alberta’s Multiple Sclerosis Student Society (MSSS) is hosting a virtual concert featuring Kaeley Jade Wiebe as well as Heaven and the Ghosts! The event will have the artists performing a few songs and then speaking about their journey to being a musician with a Q&A to follow. All proceeds will be going towards multiple sclerosis research.

What: Rekindle

When: April 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Winspear Centre
Admission: $12.00 for students, $25.00 for adults

This event is being held by the U of A department of music and features musicians from Madrigal Singers, University of Alberta Augustana Choir, and the University Symphony Orchestra, among other award-winning musicians. This concert is not one to miss if you’re a fan of choir and orchestra!

What: Bar None

When: April 2
Where: University of Alberta Varsity Field
Admission: $35.00

Bar None 74 is back and ready to party — for charity! Funds from this annual bash held by the U of A Agriculture Club will be going towards STARS Air Ambulance. The headliner this year is Bobby Wills. Tickets will be sold in-person in select buildings on the U of A’s North Campus until April 1, but are also available online. Make sure not to miss this bash!

Jin He

Jin previously served as the 2021-22 Production Editor at The Gateway. She also had a brief stint as 2022-23 Production Editor. She is in her first year studying pharmacy. If not sleeping, she can often be found supporting local artisans, obsessing over e-sports, and sporting some wicked earrings.
