Exploring Edmonton: Grant Notley Park
Grant Notley Park is a great place to relax and see the beauty of Edmonton
Located at 11603 – 100 Avenue, Grant Notley Park sits right at the heart of downtown. The park gives an overview of the beauty of the whole city. Whether you want to see the sun rising in the sky or come along in the dusk hours to see the bright city lights, this park provides the ideal location to enjoy beautiful scenic views of the city and escape the daily routine of regular life.
The gazebo, which is at the centre of the park, becomes the resting place for everyone as it provides warmth and comfort. I remember going to the park on one cold, wintery night and climbing up the gazebo with a warm coffee in my hands. The bright lights inside the gazebo warmed the night sky. Just relaxing at the park provided me with a sense of comfort among the chaotic street scenes and loud soundscapes of the city. After that experience, the park became my go-to spot where I could sit and enjoy the perfect night view and get away from all the hustle and bustle.
If you’re feeling ambitious and want to explore the area around the park, you can also follow the trail and walk up 100 Avenue. There, you can explore the views of the Victoria Golf Course on the left, and the high-rising apartments to the right.
The walkway on 100 Avenue goes on for a few hundred meters with benches on one side if anyone wants to sit and enjoy the city skyline. Across the park, there’s an array of buildings such as the low-level and the high-level bridge, along with the U of A’s HUB mall, which becomes lit up at night. The streetlights shine bright, lighting up the walkway as the path zigzags its way ahead. I hope many of you choose to visit the park to relax and enjoy the night view of the city.
