Do moose drink beer?
The Moosehead Pale Ale boasts the claim that it’s Canada’s pale ale. I would disagree and say Canada has much better pale ales and definitely better beers to offer.
Moosehead Pale Ale is a straight-up beer. It lacks the hops, citrus, and any other elements needed to classify it as an actual pale ale. If you consider it as a pale ale, well… it’s not that great. As a normal beer, it’s okay. Nothing spectacular.
The beer says that it’s fermented at warmer temperatures to impart floral aromatics. That said, I couldn’t detect any floral or other detailed aromas hidden within its bubbly taste.
The beer has nothing wrong with it. It just has no remarkable or original characteristic to make it a memorable experience — just a simple drink with not much to it. The design on the 473 millilitres can is a cool look, though. If you’re wearing flannel or wool socks, this could be a fashion piece to your lumberjack-esque attire.
If you like light beer, this one is for you. While nice and foamy, the taste leaves nothing much to be remembered. There’s a slight tinge of cereal or sweet-tasting grain with a slight bitterness that persists through the middle of the palate until you finish it.
This beer ranks average for me: I probably wouldn’t get it again unless it was significantly on sale or the only beer left.
