Fashion Streeters: Moni Holowach

ALES V

Tell us about what you’re wearing.

Most of my clothes come from Value Village, so this is a Value Village find. I love this jacket so much. Every one of my friends tries it on. I’m wearing two scarves because one of my friends was wearing two scarves one day, so I was like why not! Someone left this scarf at my house one day, so I kept it.

Where do you mostly shop?

Value Village

How would you describe your style?

Holowach: Hobo chic. Most of the time it is “the day before outfit” and I usually just cycle the same outfits.

What do fashion and trends mean to you?

Fashion and trends don’t mean much to me, but I like being comfy in what I’m wearing and I like having clothing that is slightly more ethical than most of the clothing we’re wearing. After learning more about ethical clothing when I was on a school trip in India, I came back and basically stopped shopping first hand. Since then I’ve maybe bought five things that were new, everything else has been second hand or from clothing swaps. That’s where I got all my coolest clothes from, and that’s where I get all these cool pieces that whenever I go out someone’s like “that’s a cool jacket where did you get that?”

Do you take a lot of inspiration from the places you’ve travelled then?

Yeah and from the people around me. From how ridiculous a lot my friends dress, I am just right in the middle compared to them.

What would you recommend to others who are exploring their style and fashion?

Get things if you love them. But don’t just buy cheap clothes because they are there. Think about where your clothes are coming from and how long they are going to last.
