This article takes a deep dive into the rise of populism within Canadian conservatism. The writing is excellent, and the subject matter is relevant and pointed. This is a great political piece.

The Flight PS752 tragedy affected many people here at the university, and what better way to commemorate the lives lost than with a photo gallery? Helen Zhang, the photo editor for The Gateway, respectfully and tastefully captured the grief, loss, hope, and love at this memorial. The loss of Flight PS752 may forever weigh heavy on our hearts, but these photos will remain a solemn, artistic reminder of what those lives meant to the community.

Eating Edmonton: Friends and Neighbours by Calvin Chan

This Eating Edmonton had very nice imagery, and reviewed the food and atmosphere of the restaurant well. The word choice was perfect, and after reading it, I wanted to go there and try the food myself.

Fresh Routes, a not-for-profit mobile grocery store, goes to U of A and local communities by Kate Turner

This news article explores the current movement and background of Fresh Routes, which sells food at or just above cost to underprivileged communities in and around Edmonton. This is a business which deserved to see the spotlight, and Kate Turner does an excellent job weaving the web of their story.

While most students are unable to attend a great deal of sporting events, a photo story is an excellent way to be immersed in a game. Rachel Wang does a good job effectively capturing the spirit and action of the players, making you feel like you’re right there with the volleyball players.

Payton Ferguson is a English major by day, 2019-20 Opinion Editor for The Gateway by night (and also day). She enjoys long walks to the fridge, writing until her wrists ache, and bombarding social media with pictures of her chihuahuas.
