Looking for a way to spice up your everyday look without going overboard? Well, makeup mavens, you’re in luck.  This post is part of a short series on how to incorporate this season’s hottest metallic shades into your beauty repertoire.

Bronze is the type of colour that looks good on anyone, no matter your hair colour, skin tone or eye colour. There are many different shades of bronze, but most have a metallic lustre that catches the light and really makes skin glow. It’s a great day-to-night transitional colour, and most brands carry more than one version, making it readily accessible.

To start things off, let’s take a closer look at beautiful shades of bronze that will have your features glimmering in less time than it takes you to get from SUB to CCIS. Life in the Beauty Lane brings you a quick how-to for achieving a softly smoldering bronze eye look that will have everyone winking your way.

Step 1: Prime your eyelids with an eyeshadow/concealer primer. Conceal the area under your eyes with your favourite peach-toned concealer. The warm, peachy tones will cancel out any darkness or shadows.

Step 2: Taking a small, fluffy eyeshadow brush, sweep a light brown or warm taupe shadow from the inner third of the lid to the outer corner.

Step 3: Take your chosen bronze shade and brush it from the middle of your lid to the outer corner, taking care to blend it well with the first shade you used. Any excess shadow on the brush can be swept under your lower lash lines for added definition.

Step 4:  Take a dark brown or deeper bronze shade and define the crease area of the eye below your browbone. Use this same shade to line your top lashline or swap it out for rich bronze eyeliner in your favourite formula.

Step 5: Add a highlighting champagne shade underneath the arch of your brow for a softly glimmering, light-catching effect. Make sure your eyeshadow shades are blended together well. You don’t want to see stripes of colour or any bare spots.

Step 6: Add two or three coats of black mascara to define and plump up your eyelashes and you’re all done!

P.S. Blue-eyed beauties, this is a look that will really make your peepers pop. Orange is across blue on the colour wheel, while bronze is its nearest cousin, meaning that shades from this family really make blue eyes stand out.
